"Elen, Goddess of the Ways with Pleiadies, 2023" by Lisa Tomczeszyn
Elen, Goddess of the Ways with Pleiadies, 2023. Watercolor on paper, 16” x 12. $350
Elen of the Ways is She who guides us on these paths of change. She is an antlered goddess who rules the Ways, the Roads, the Passages of human life, both physical and spiritual. Her tattoos are the Awin (inspiration) and the triskele (motion of action, cycles, progress, revolution and competition).
Statement: The Goddess series started in September of 2022. Seeking to connect with the Welsh ancestry lineage of my great grandmother Mary Francis Winston, I began to research Druidic and Briton Celtic goddesses. The Goddess series juxtaposes my color field landscapes as the backdrop to figuratively explore constellations and myth. In this time of ecological uncertainty - these works are meditations on the “old ways”.
