Statement: Masks gift people with brief moments of Alternate Reality. Wearing a mask allows people to transcend their daily lives and play grown up make believe. The tradition of wearing masks during Carnival in Venice has its roots in the 17th century, when masks allowed people to do things outside of their identity that were not openly possible.

Bio: Fine artist and designer, Lisa Tomczeszyn attended Parsons School of Design in NYC for Fashion Design, earned a BFA in painting and lithography at Southampton College, and a MFA in theatrical design at the Yale School of Drama. Ms. Tomczeszyn worked on and off Broadway before moving to Los Angeles in the mid 1990s. She has worked as an assistant designer for legendary designers Jane Greenwood, Bob Mackie, and James Acheson and was extremely fortunate to have a vibrant costume design career in theater, film, and television – The Punisher, Elektra, The X Files: I Want to to Believe, The Better Angels and The Stanford Prison Experiment are a few of her favorite projects from a 40 year career in costume design.
