Artist Bio: Kim Reasor is a San Diego artist working in oil paint and other mediums. Her work includes explorations of southern California industrial landscapes and collaborations with scientists producing unique interpretations of ecological themes. Her work is included in the permanent collection of the San Diego Museum of Art and in private collections in the United States and Europe.
Artist Statement: A circle of embellished marshmallow Peeps on a map of the Arctic look inward, bearing witness to the loss of the sea ice, which is represented as a void that intermittently glows red. They are nature spirits, guardians of the snow. The fragility and impermanence of the Peeps mirrors the fragility and impermanence of the sea ice in the face of runaway global heating.
