"Made In" by AnnLi Tico
Made In: clothing tags, textiles, thread. 24” x 48”. $900
Statement: I work with clothing tags frequently, primarily the ones found sewn on the inside of garments. They are often plain and dense in text, describing care instructions that often go ignored and unread. As clothing grows more disposable, and trends fleeting, the use of hand-stitching treats the tags with a level of care that we do not often give our garments. By bringing the hidden to the forefront, I attempt to reflect on the way we approach and consume clothing- whether as a necessity, an indulgence, or a means of self-expression.
