"Percival, 2024" by Ann Storc
Percival, 2024. Mixed textiles and feathers. $500
Statement: My dress is a tribute to Percival, a male Peacock that has roamed my neighborhood since the beginning of the pandemic. I am including my inspiration photos because most people think that the front of this bird is the most attractive, but his back is also spectacular. The entire look is Art Deco with a flip of front and back. The material will include some feathers, knitting and some fabric yet to be found.
About the artist: Art teacher, art advocate, and artist these are the three hats that I wear. As a high school art teacher, I created a four-year art program where my students can discover their place in art. As an art advocate I received my Master Degree in Art Education from California State University Los Angeles and I’ve returned to the same college to conduct a class for pre-service elementary school teachers that enable them to develop art programs in their classroom. My philosophy is that everybody is an artist and that people only need to find their art. I want to bring art parties to your house or office. The artist in me continues to search for themes concerning the role of women in the world.
