Artist Bio: Photographer & artist Richard S. Chow, based in Los Angeles, is celebrated for his fine art, documentary, and unique photo-based creations.

With a studio in the vibrant Little Tokyo, downtown LA, he has showcased his work in solo exhibitions at prestigious venues like the Museum of Art and History Lancaster, Orange Coast College, Neutra Museum & Gallery, and Metro 417 Gallery. In 2024, he's set to present a solo show at Gallery 825 in West Hollywood, CA. He has contributed to over 120 group exhibits.

Richard's works grace public collections at the American Hotel and LA Public Library Foundation. He has independently published two books, also featured in the monogram LACMA Jazz 25th Anniversary published by LA County Museum of Arts.

Beyond his own art, Richard shares his expertise with the art community as a portfolio reviewer, curator, seminar moderator, instructor, and grant reviewer for the California Arts Council, a State agency. Represented by United Photographic Artists Gallery in Tampa, FL, and Gallery 825 in West Hollywood, please explore his portfolios at www.richardschow.com and on Instagram at instagram.com/richardschow.

Artist Statement: My fine art photography often explores human conditions and their symbiotic relationship with nature, landscapes, and culture, ultimately studying individualism and our perception of the world. Evolving from my earlier work featuring built environments and a passion for design and colorful aesthetics, my latest series, “Into the Light,” focuses on black and white photography. These colorless images delve into light, form, and function, examining the urban landscape and its inhabitants.

In this series, I use light instead of color to convey tone, atmosphere, and context, creating compelling images with a modern aesthetic. Geometry adds structure and organization, making abstract compositions that guide viewers into the light.
