"The Cloud. 2024" by Anna Magnuson
The Cloud. 2024. Ink and gouache on wood panel,12” x 12”. $100
The Shelley poem is a romanticization of the evaporation cycle and I think the goddess resides at that intersection of truth and magic. Water is life.
Statement:
Anna Magnuson works with watercolor, gouache, ink, linocut, and found materials. She explores themes of nature, connectedness, mortality, spirituality and the magic of the mundane. She studied art and art history at Occidental College a lifetime ago and has spent the last 20+ years digesting and forgetting everything she learned about art in school. She has worked in various caregiving roles from customer service to Occupational Therapist to mother of three children.
Her work teeters between celebrating happy accidents and guiding the process via a loosely structured plan.
