Statement: Calling the Goddess

A decade ago I was in a Pasadena  show where I made my first goddess bells. Sometimes I believe we need to call upon the goddess, and I think bells paired with art is the answer. I often view healing and strength with the spine, our backbone, so I carefully printed each individual paper with local native botanical prints, gently wrapping each “vertebrae” with nature’s pigments. Threads became the nerves and I topped it with a simple goddess figure in a position I choose regularly to stretch and extend my spine. Attached to bottom of the spine are several bells intended to be jingled when needed. Perhaps to set a tone, create an energetic space, to make an announcement, to enter a sacred space. Jingle away.
