"The Goddess’s smile, 2024" by Eya Ozerova
The Goddess’s smile, 2024. Needle felted wool, 32” x 21”. $2700
About the art:
This project was born as a spontaneous response on my community emotional shock when the war in Ukraine began. I started gathering people for workshops to make one piece of collective art work art in our time together. They were therapeutic events as well. During 2022-2023 I invited people to create art together as a mandalas - wishing peace and embroidering our love in each detail of these tapestries. I drew and orchestrated the process of collective work, giving participants freedom to create details in ensemble with the whole.
Bio: Eya Ozerova, a Los Angeles based artist, was born in the Ukraine. She holds an MFA degree from the Stroganoff University of Applied Arts and Design in Moscow, where she developed a new textile art technology she calls "non-woven felted tapestry" on which she wrote a book “Pictorial Felt” (AST PRESS 2009). Since then Eya has held workshops all around the world. She teaches art through her felting technique and provides healing art retreats and private healing art sessions. She believes that felting art with her special guidance helps people to relieve stress and trauma and transforms their lives for the better. In 2020 she started making thematic collective art events and sessions bringing people together and making one art piece for all, while focusing on one intention - harmony and peace within.
