"We Are All Eve, 2022" by Monica Marks
We Are All Eve, 2022. Low relief clay on wood, mulberry paper, acrylic paint, found objects. 42” x 25” x 8”. $2004
Statement: This is my way of reclaiming the earliest biblical figure from the male-centric, male gaze, and often misogynistic view of female figures. Eve, and all womxn, are often seen as manipulative or evil when they are simply strong and independent. This is my solidarity with all womxn who have inner strength, from the earliest of stories to the present day.
